Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and analytical individual to join our Mid-Corporate Asset-Based Finance team as a Credit Analyst!
This is an excellent entry point where you will be trained and mentored by a team of experienced Portfolio Managers to learn how to properly evaluate the financial strength and risks associated with clients across various industries. As a Credit Analyst, you will play a critical role that paves the way for numerous future opportunities in areas such as sales, credit, relationship management, loan review, or other similar positions. In this role, you will perform in-depth analyses of various industries, owners’ backgrounds, historical and projected financial performance, collateral performance, and risk ratings for various companies—all in accordance with the Bank's underwriting policies and guidelines.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, and clients to address credit needs efficiently and accurately.
- Approve the extension of credit and/or make recommendations to the individuals responsible for final lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans.
- Conduct comprehensive credit analyses, including gathering, analyzing, and interpreting all types of credit information on existing and prospective customers.
- Review customer accounts and portfolios to identify, evaluate, and determine the appropriate course of action on potential credit quality issues to maximize credit quality and minimize risk and potential loss to the company.
- Submit financial statements to be spread and evaluated for performance.
- Assist in preparing internal credit approval documents and annual reviews.
- Present credit modifications and new opportunities to internal credit partners for final approval.
- Identify emerging industry trends and proactively monitor risk.
- Manage complex credit requests and analyses with guidance from senior team members.
- Utilize credit analysis tools and software to support decision-making.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Typically six or more years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Strong credit analysis and analytical skills
- In-depth knowledge of credit analysis, credit administration, credit policy and procedures, and risk analysis
- Background in economics, accounting, and/or finance; collateral analysis experience is a plus
- Effective technical report writing skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages (strong proficiency in Excel)
- Master’s degree or CPA certification is preferred
Location Expectations
This role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00 - $136,400.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
