Job Description

The Head of Master Data Management (MDM) is responsible for defining and executing the enterprise master data strategy to ensure high-quality, consistent, and trusted data across the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This role leads the development and governance of master data domains (such as Customer, Product, Hierarchy), overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of MDM platforms, policies, and practices. Partnering with business and IT stakeholders, the Head of MDM ensures that master data supports key business processes, regulatory compliance, and analytics initiatives.

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and lead the enterprise-wide MDM strategy in alignment with data governance, analytics, and digital transformation goals
  • Drive the adoption of master data standards, business rules, and taxonomies across business units and systems
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and advocate for MDM best practices at the executive level

Data Governance & Quality

  • Partner with Data Governance, IT, and business units to establish policies, roles, and workflows for master data stewardship
  • Implement data quality standards and processes to ensure completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of master data
  • Oversee data profiling, monitoring, and remediation efforts across MDM domains

Platform & Architecture Oversight

  • Lead the selection, design, and implementation of MDM platforms and related tools
  • Ensure scalable architecture and integration of MDM solutions with enterprise applications (e.g., ERP, CRM, data lakes)
  • Collaborating with Enterprise Architecture and IT teams to ensure alignment with overall data infrastructure

Operational Execution

  • Establish a centralized MDM function, including stewardship teams, support services, and operational procedures
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of master data, including creation, maintenance, and deactivation processes
  • Monitor performance KPIs and ensure SLA adherence for MDM operations

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between business and technical teams to gather requirements, resolve conflicts, and promote data ownership
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure MDM initiatives meet business needs and regulatory requirements
  • Provide training and enablement for data stewards, analysts, and business users on master data processes and tools

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise data management, including 5+ years in a leadership role focused on MDM
  • Proven experience implementing and operating enterprise MDM platforms (e.g., Informatica, SAP MDG, Oracle, Semarchy, Reltio)
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and metadata management
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, and data integration across cloud and on-prem environments
  • Strong leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Travel required approximately 10-15% within the United States
  • The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $214,795.00 - $252,700.00
