About the Department

The Kee Laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms controlling the development and function of innate and adaptive immune cells. We use state-of-the art technologies to determine how specific transcription factors promote the proper function of multiple cell types and how mistakes in those programs lead to cancer or a failure of immune defense. The lab is composed of postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, undergraduate students, and technicians. This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance.


Job Summary

The Research Technician participates in research activities and requires knowledge of immunology, molecular biology, genomics, and biochemistry. The applicant must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience with basic animal husbandry and genotyping. Experience with in vivo immunology and cancer models is an asset. The applicant must also be able to work independently using basic flow cytometry techniques and analysis. The applicant is expected to present research findings to the PI in a timely manner. In addition, the applicant will be responsible for lab maintenance, organization, ordering reagents, and some administrative support.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and administrative support for a research project.

  • Collects and enters data. Assists in analyzing data. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

  • Assists with the installation, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.

  • May assist recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Is developing skills in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
