About the Department
Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens in a wet lab and office environment.
- Builds competence in relevant research techniques or methods.
- Assists with building and standardizing protocols, as needed.
- Work independently in an organized, detailed manner within a collaborative team environment.
- Support the goals of the lab by maintaining stocks of supplies, maintaining instruments, lab organization and training of new lab members.
- Is up to date on background scientific literature regarding their projects.
- Collects and enters data. Assists in analyzing data. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
- Assists with the installation, sets up and performs experiments, interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).

Education:
- Bachelor degree in related field.
Experience:
- Understanding of molecular genetics and molecular evolution.
- Experience in molecular techniques such as nucleic acid preps, gel electrophoresis and blotting.
- Experience in sterile technique and culturing, specifically of yeast.
- Experience in computational data analysis and AI.
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
- Experience in computational data analysis and AI.
Preferred Competencies
- Ability to work independently.
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting.
- Time management skills.
- Highly organized.
