Facilities Services supports the mission of the University of Chicago through efforts to maintain and enhance the University campus and environment and provide superior client service to our community including faculty, students, staff, neighbors and visitors.


Job Summary

Serves as a resource and collaborative partner to all areas of Facilities Services (FS) to analyze and visualize data to provide information to improve department performance, service delivery, efficiency, and data transparency. Reports directly to the Space Information Manager within the Campus Planning + Sustainability unit. Primarily responsible for developing data visualizations, dashboards, key performance indicators, and data analysis/reports based on various databases related to space information, capital planning, capital project delivery, energy and sustainability, and facility operations by extracting data sets from multiple software applications utilizing Tableau or Power BI tools.
In addition, assists the Space Information Manager through updating data content in the Archibus space management database and AutoCAD floor plans, archiving completed project drawings, and providing information to various University stakeholders. This role will also provide support by preparing reports on data associated with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) maps and serving as support in generating maps. This position will also assist with data entry, data analysis, and data reporting for Facility Condition Assessments and capital project requests. For the Office of Sustainability, collaboration includes data collection and transformation of raw data into a nicely stored and formatted data final product for the data warehouse that calculates the University’s greenhouse gas emissions.

This position involves coordinating work assignments and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of work. This work entails attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with management team to create a prioritized list of data analytics and reporting needs for each business unit.

  • Work to achieve an integrated reporting and analysis environment, effectively leveraging analytical systems and tools.

  • Works with users to ensure deliverables meet or exceed expectations.

  • Participates in the development of Business Intelligence (BI) and other analytical applications. Works to achieve an integrated reporting and analysis environment, effectively leveraging analytical systems and tools.

  • Conducts requirements analysis, translating requirements into a scope document and developing reporting deliverables based on the design.

  • Works with users to ensure deliverables are meeting or exceeding expectations. Provides support and communicates issues to users as defined by IT standards.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related technical area.

Experience:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience working with Tableau (and/or Power BI), including linking multiple data sets.

  • 1 to 2 years of experience working with SmartSheet.

  • The ability to leverage APIs to extract data from systems.

  • Working knowledge of SQL, in addition to database experience and understanding the format data must be in to manipulate it.

  • Working knowledge of Python required to help automate job processes and streamline tasks.

  • Understanding how to use BI tools to generate reports.

  • Familiarity with organization of architectural drawing sets.

  • Working knowledge of GIS standards and ArcGIS.

  • 1 to 2 years of experience updating and editing drawings in AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Sketch-Up, Adobe Creative Suite or other drawing programs. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in ARCHIBUS or other space management systems.
