Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Agricultural Communication, Agricultural Leadership, Communication Studies, Strategic Communication, or related field.
Position Summary
The incumbent, housed in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication, will develop programs to assist CAES graduate students (Ph.D. and MS) in developing and refining a wide range of communication and leadership competencies (e.g., interviewing, networking, presentations, interpersonal relationships, business etiquette, writing, science communication, team leadership, and conflict management).

  • Qualified to teach in one or more of the following areas: business communication, science/translational communication, organizational leadership, presentational speaking, interviewing, digital media strategy.
  • Three years’ university teaching and industry experience
  • The ability to successfully pursue external funding opportunities
  • Background working with international students and/or bench scientists
  • The ability to conduct and publish the results of empirical research.

Administration of the Certificate program. This will include developing a suitable rotation of available courses, scheduling, advising graduate students regarding the certificate, communicating with faculty responsible for online and in-person instruction relevant to the certificate; annual assessment; briefing ALEC Department Head and Associate Dean for Research and making recommendations regarding the program.

Teaching two courses per year. The successful candidate should be qualified to teach in one or more of the following areas: business communication, science/translational communication, organizational leadership, presentational speaking, interviewing.

Duties/Responsibilities
Engage in grantseeking to support initiatives related to the Certificate and publishing research articles related to this initiative. The focus will be on (i) grant seeking to support creation of a business communication lab that would simulate presentational and professional communication environments consistent with business and industry and offer a venue for coaching and performance feedback; (ii) publication of assessment data and case studies reporting on innovations related to this initiative.
