Position Summary | The Forest Business and Operations team at the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources is searching for 3 undergraduate students to conduct research related to forest business. Interns will assist graduate students, professors, and staff with field data collection during summer 2025. Field data collection will include measurements of soil, trees, and timber harvesting machines. Interested students should be current undergraduates with an interest in applied forestry and field data collection. The internship is open to all forestry and natural resources majors. The successful candidates will work in a team setting. Day-to-day activities would consist of travel, field data collection and analysis around timber harvest sites, and other duties as assigned. The position will be based in Athens, GA and most data collection will be conducted in Georgia and surrounding states. Some overnight travel to nearby states may be needed, but all travel expenses will be covered. These positions provide a great opportunity to explore new areas of the state, meet forestry professionals, and become familiar with general forestry practices. |

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies | Needed Skills: • Eligible to drive a university vehicle • Ability to work in the field in warm temperatures during the summer Preferred Qualifications (Not Required): • Knowledge of basic field measurements (e.g., FANR 3000, FORS 4050, or equivalent) • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Experience using common natural resources tools (e.g., clinometers, range finders, compasses, etc.) |
