This is a temporary position from July 23, 2025 through September 11, 2025. This position consists of overnight shifts from 6:30 PM until 5:00 AM Monday through Thursday.


The position also requires the ability to work on UGA home football games on August 30, 2025, and September 6, 2025, during the day from 11:00 AM until 6:30 PM.

Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of students, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain the security of premises.
  • Interacts with both students, staff, and visitors in a respectful and professional manner.

  • Patrol on foot, periodically, during each shift checking buildings and grounds of the Law School.
  • Monitor and report any safety issues such as a suspicious person, fire hazard, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.

  • Work with and support UGA Police Officers as directed by the Officers when they enter a situation.
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.

Minimum Qualifications
Position Summary
The Security Staff will monitor and authorize building entrances during the overnight hours and perform foot patrols of the University of Georgia School of Law buildings. The employee will also observe, address, investigate and report incidents and suspicious activities.

The Security Staff will work Monday through Thursday with a ten-hour overnight shift each day.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to communicate with students or guests who have inquiries about entering the building.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures.
  • Use of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and information.
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • Punctuality and ability to maintain work schedule.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
Physical Demands
  • Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time monitoring surveillance equipment.
  • Frequently move and walk about inside the building to access rooms, sometimes in uneven terrain in varying light conditions.
