Position Summary | The Senior Research Professional/Lab Manager will assist the PI and laboratory in various aspects of research including experimental laboratory work, data analysis, data preparation and presentation, project coordination, animal husbandry and colony management, laboratory supply inventory/management, maintaining lab SOP and protocols, and training new lab personnel. 50% of the individual’s time will be allocated to ongoing research projects in the lab. 25% of the individual’s time will be allocated to establishing and maintaining a mouse colony for two individual labs: for the Ananth laboratory and the Kim laboratory. 15% of the individual’s time will be allocated to coordination and management of laboratory resources. 10% of the individual’s time will be allocated to training/supporting student researchers and technicians. |

Duties/Responsibilities | Experimental: A minimum of 5 years of training and experimental experience is needed to perform this array of experimental procedures Performs simple and experimental surgeries on animals (3-5 years of training and experimental experience to perform this array of experimental surgeries)
Performs animal behavioral experiments (3-5 years of training and specialized experimental experience to master this array of techniques – these skills are specifically required for the Ananth Lab’s Research Program)
Prepares animal tissues for fresh and fixed applications (2-3 years of training and experimental experience)
Performs molecular biology techniques (*3-5 years of training and specialized experimental experience to master this array of techniques – these skills are specifically required for the Ananth Lab’s Research Program)
Performs immunohistochemistry on animal tissues
Analyzes experimental data (2-3 years of experience and specialized experience to master this – these skills are specifically required for the Ananth Lab’s Research Program)
Edits and writes research papers and protocols and communicates scientific findings
