The budgeted salary range for the position is $65,000 to $85,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.

Position Summary
This position contributes to the design and delivery of research projects and collaborates with researchers to develop, execute, and interpret research projects. Performs complex data collection and study methods. Research Specialist (GIS Analyst) supports a series of interdisciplinary projects operating at the nexus of health, the environment, and inequalities. The Children's Environmental Health Initiative (CEHI) is a research, education, and outreach program committed to fostering environments where all people can prosper.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform spatial data processing, analysis, and documentation.
  • Provide technical support for research projects.
  • Manage GIS capacity building for diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., geographic information systems, geography, planning, landscape
    architecture, civil engineering, computer science, statistics, or public health).
    A minimum of 3 years of related research experience (up to one year can be counted from part-time research assistantship experience).
    Possesses and applies advanced knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices, and methods.
    Expert level knowledge of GIS software (Esri Products, QGIS)

    Preferred Qualifications
    Master’s degree in Geospatial Information System and Technology or related field preferred.
    Experience with GIS-based programming (Python, Arcade), and application development experience in web/desktop environment (e.g., R, JavaScript, Python, CSS, and Tableau); and vector graphics editing software (Adobe Illustrator and, or Photoshop) is preferred.
    Training and/or instructional experience is preferred.
