Information Systems Analyst- Division of Management Information (DMI)
The Division of Management Information (DMI) is accepting applications for an Information Systems Analyst. This position manages, maintains, and secures databases for DMI. This position also extracts, cleans, analyzes, and reports data from the university's administrative databases. In addition, the Information Systems Analyst interacts with internal and external constituents and represents the office on committees as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Collaborate with staff to design, develop, implement, maintain, and improve databases, data collection, and reporting techniques to meet changing information needs.
• Monitor database performance, diagnose issues, provide and implement solutions, and identify inefficiencies or opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure systems and data-handling practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements and institutional policies.
• Provide technical support and guidance to users, including developing documentation, manuals, and training materials for system use.
• Support or lead system upgrades, migrations, or the introduction of new tools/platforms, and ensure compatibility and smooth data flow between multiple platforms or databases.
• Extract data from DMI sources and other university administrative databases, verify data accuracy, initiate and resolve data quality issues, and create reports for responding to data requests.
• Assist users in the appropriate and secure use of data provided and/or maintained by DMI.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation on all projects, processes, and reports.
• Develop a thorough familiarity with university data sources, understand the appropriate use of each, and maintain an understanding of reporting requirements.
• Understand the legal and regulatory environment controlling the use and dissemination of campus data, including highly confidential information.
• Represent DMI on university committees as needed.
Position Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years).
- Demonstrated experience writing SQL queries.
- Demonstrated experience with database administration (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft).
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Demonstrated experience with Excel.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Demonstrated experience with SSIS or Visual Studio IDE.
- Experience with web application development.
- Experience with Denodo.
- Experience with SAS, R, SharePoint, Active Directory, XML, HTML, ASP, and/or ASP.NET.
- Experience with interactive data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, and Excel, including Slicers and Pivot Tables.
-Relevant experience in higher education (e.g., database administration, data analysis, data visualization, programming).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Attentive to detail, organized, and flexible in an environment of multiple projects and continually shifting deadlines.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas to non-technical professionals.
- Ability to complete projects independently and work as a part of a team on projects.
- Strong verbal, writing, and problem-solving skills.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The salary for this position is $70,000- $85,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.
