Responsibilities*
- Conduct and support advanced experimental procedures, serving as a technical expert in mice models, cell culture (including primary human and mouse cells), cellular biology and molecular biology techniques.
- Oversee daily operations of the research laboratory, including coordination of lab personnel, equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, and maintaining compliance with safety and institutional protocols.
- Lead and manage key phases of complex research projects in collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI), including project planning, experimental design, troubleshooting, and prioritization of lab activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the research plan, including experimental design, optimization, and adaptation of protocols; assist in developing novel strategies to support project goals.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, including application of basic bioinformatic tools and statistical models; work with the PI to evaluate findings and direct follow-up studies.
- Assist with writing and preparing sections of grant applications, research protocols, and manuscripts for publication; support submission of regulatory documents and progress reports.
- Serve as liaison with internal core facilities, collaborators, and external vendors, including communication with clinical trial or reagent providers and coordination of shared resource usage.
- Present research findings in lab meetings and external settings, such as departmental seminars, collaborative research forums or national conferences; assist in mentoring junior lab members in presentation preparation.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Minimum 5-6 years related experience, i.e., published in a field of specialty and academic knowledge in a field or discipline.
Desired Qualifications*
- Masters or Doctoral Degree preferred.
Modes of Work

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
