Job Summary
This position will provide expert level understanding of the Occupational Health Services (OHS) electronic medical record used for employee documentation. Responsibilities include planning, designing, maintaining and evaluating the EMR to ensure appropriate and standard workflows, processes and guidelines are in place to support the clinical components used primarily by the OHS nursing and clinical teams. Testing system requirements and functionality to support defined workflows, provides training to staff, auditing records, ensuring compliance requirements are in place to support policies and procedures established by MIOSHA, Insurance & Claims Administration, Michigan Medicine, UofM Campus stakeholders and others as applicable.
Responsibilities*
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the OHS EMR system.
- Develop, implement, and maintain clinical workflows to support compliance and documentation standards.
- Train clinical staff, nurses, and stakeholders on EMR use and best practices.
- Conduct audits and provide data analysis, reports, and visualizations to support decision-making.
- Partner with OHS leadership to ensure systems meet operational and compliance requirements.
- Act as a liaison between OHS staff, leadership, and institutional stakeholders.
- Support troubleshooting and problem-solving for system and workflow issues.
- Perform OHS clinical duties as needed.
Required Qualifications*
BSA Senior:
- BSN with RN Licensure in the state of Michigan
- 5+ years RN experience working in ED, OR or ICU
- 1+ year Subject matter expert (SME) working in an Occupational Health documentation system.
- 3 years serving as a charge nurse in a complex health care system
- 1-year experience in performing on the job training to staff
- Project management skills including the ability to define program, project, or process objectives.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including experience in conflict resolution and change management
- Demonstrates a high standard of personal and professional conduct; possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; and demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse population
- Demonstrated team player with the ability to work independently
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills, Microsoft Office software, Outlook and other applicable platforms
- Able to evaluate and make changes to process, toward continuous quality improvement and solutions oriented toward the occupational health setting
- Ability to travel from point A to point B throughout the workday as assigned.
BSA Intermediate:
- BSN with RN Licensure in the state of Michigan

Desired Qualifications*
BSA Senior:
- Experience as a nurse educator
- Obtain Certified Occupational Health credential within 2 years working in this role
- Experience working within a large, complex academic health system and research institution.
- Knowledge of Michigan Medicine policies & procedures.
- Demonstrated skills through the effective use of technology.
- Experience utilizing Cisco Finesse
BSA Intermediate:
- Experience working within a large, complex academic health system and research institution.

Work Schedule
This position is a 40-hour Full time position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee will be able to perform the assigned duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations: ability to work in a sedentary position for long periods of time, ability to communicate / exchange information, fine motor coordination/dexterity necessary for keyboarding or typing, and may require reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, moving about, lifting of up to 20 pounds, etc., with or without the use of assistive/adaptive devices.
OCCUPATIONAL HAZARD INFORMATION:
Staff members may have routine exposure to all chemical inventory, inclusive of hazardous materials, including but not limited to the office, hospital, and clinics. Chemical inventory reference materials are available to all staff in the form of hard copy and on-line Material Safety Data Sheets. Staff may carry out assignments at the hospital, clinics, campus departments and the OHS clinic. Staff may drive their personal vehicle and/or walk on uneven surfaces to these various work site locations in all weather conditions on a regular basis.
