Job Summary
A study team in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Medicine seeks a full-time Research Area Specialist Intermediate to support the conduct of a randomized controlled trial at Michigan Medicine that will examine the effectiveness of a novel Weight Navigation Program that draws on principles of team-based, collaborative care and population health management to enhance primary care patients access to effective, preference-sensitive weight-loss treatment options through weight-focused consultation visits with obesity medicine experts. This is a full-time hybrid position, with the majority of the work completed remotely. Occasional in-person meetings and tasks may be required at the North Campus Research Complex (NCRC) in Ann Arbor. Some evening and weekend hours will be required to connect with study participants.

Responsibilities*
Individual will collaborate closely with the studys Principal Investigator, Project Manager, a multidisciplinary team of health care researchers, and a team of clinical health care providers. They will play a key role in carrying out the research, and tasks will include the following:
Project Coordination and administration
- Draft study Standard Operating Procedures
- Prepare select documents for Institutional Review Board applications
- Coordinate collection of outcome data from study participants
- Process disbursement and tracking of financial incentives to study participants
- Coordinate intervention delivery
- Perform quantitative data quality control
- Assist with manuscripts, reports, posters, and PowerPoint slide preparation
Interaction with research participants
- Draft participant-facing materials
- Conduct recruitment and tracking of study participants
- Conduct remote 1:1 informed consent sessions with participants
- Lead efforts to optimize retention of study participants
- Conduct outreach regarding weight loss efforts to participants randomized to the intervention
Qualitative data collection and analysis
- Conduct semi-structured telephone interviews
- Code and analyze data from semi-structured telephone interviews
Required Qualifications*
Intermediate Level:
- A Bachelors degree in a related field at least 5 years of relevant experience OR
- A Masters degree in a related field (e.g., Public Health, Social Work) with at least 4 years of relevant experience
Associate Level:
- A Bachelors degree in a related field at least 3 years of relevant experience OR
- A Masters degree in a related field (e.g., Public Health, Social Work) with at least 1 year of relevant experience
Both:
- Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision
- Strong communication skills including in-person, telephone, and email communication
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks to consistently meet project deadlines
- Superb interpersonal skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong work ethic, including demonstrated desire to problem-solve and continually improve

- Proficiency in the PC environment and with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience with recruiting and managing participants in randomized trials of behavioral interventions
- Experience with REDCap and/or OnCore
- Experience with qualitative research

Background Screening
