Job Summary
The Seo lab seeks a hands-on Research Assistant II to support mouse genetics and molecular biology studies in nutrition and metabolism. This role is on-site and involves substantial mouse work and core bench techniques.
What You'll Do
Mouse work: routine handling, genotyping (ear/tail snips), dissections, colony maintenance, and basic husbandry (e.g. cage changes, IDs, supply requests) in a PI-managed satellite space.
Molecular biology: PCR/qPCR, Western blot sample prep and runs.
Experimental support: Follow SOPs to design and execute experiments with PI/supervisor; maintain detailed electronic lab notebooks and organize data.
Lab operations: Monitor and restock supplies, maintain shared equipment, uphold EH&IACUC compliance and lab cleanliness.
Teamwork & communication: Coordinate schedules for animal procedures; participate in brief check-ins and report progress.
Required Qualifications*
BS/BA or MS in Biomedical Sciences or related field.
1 year of hands-on molecular biology in a research lab (PCR, qPCR, and/or Western blot).
Mouse experience required: Handling, basic procedures, and tissue dissections.
Strong record-keeping, reliability, and attention to detail; comfort with on-site, lab-based work.
Ability to commit to the role for at least two years if converted to full-time.
