Job Description

At the University of Notre Dame, the digital experience for our students, faculty, and staff is central to our mission of academic and research excellence. ServiceNow powers this experience, orchestrating critical digital workflows and connecting administrative units across campus.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a ServiceNow Developer to serve as a technical leader in shaping the future of the platform. This role is an opportunity to join a high-performance, close-knit team that is crucial to the success of the University's most important strategic endeavors. You will be joining a group dedicated not only to technical excellence but also to close collaboration and shared mentorship, working on campus-wide initiatives in areas like:

  • Asset Management and operational excellence.

  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC).

  • A major push to transform our Employee Center experience and deliver next-generation self-service through AI and ticket automation.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer the Full Platform Lifecycle: Lead the implementation, support, and maintenance of HAM and SAM Professional, Discovery, and Service Graph Connectors

  • Orchestrate Advanced Integrations: Architect seamless data integrations using IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP APIs, and MID Servers.

  • Drive AI & Automation Innovation: leverage native capabilities, including Virtual Agent, Predictive Intelligence, and GenAI, to enhance self-service and drive significant operational efficiency.

  • Execute Strategic Project Leadership: Drive the modernization of the enterprise by owning the complete development lifecycle for major new module implementations (such as GRC and Employee Center)

  • Champion Platform Health & Security: Oversee the end-to-end upgrade process, security configurations, and core platform administration. You will continuously innovate techniques for data delivery and system optimization to ensure the platform remains aligned with industry best practices and University standards.

  • Cultivate Technical Partnerships & Mentorship: Serve as a subject matter expert, partnering with technical staff and campus stakeholders to translate complex business processes into scalable, high-impact solutions.


Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience that demonstrates the necessary specialized knowledge

  • Experience with the ServiceNow Asset Management suite, including the hands-on implementation and maintenance of HAM Professional and SAM Professional modules

  • ServiceNow development experience, including working with Integration Hub, REST/SOAP APIs, and MID Servers

  • Software Development and Architecture: Strong experience in software development and system architecture, demonstrated by proficiency in either structured and object-oriented programming principles OR a deep understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and normalization

  • Ability to work in the United States, now or in the future, without visa sponsorship

Preferred

  • Implementation certifications or hands-on experience with core ServiceNow modules, such as IT Service Management (ITSM) or HR Service Delivery (HR)

  • ServiceNow Certifications: Current ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD)

  • Experience working with a large enterprise platform in a complex environment, such as a university or public sector organization.
