Health Sciences IT (HSIT) is seeking a Clinical Equipment Analyst. This role is responsible for the deployment, support, and lifecycle management of technology and specialized equipment used in the School of Dental Medicine's academic, clinical, and research environments. This role ensures reliable integration of digital dental devices, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and clinical IT infrastructure while maintaining compliance with university and healthcare standards.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, OR equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in IT support, preferably in a healthcare or higher education environment.
• Hands-on experience with hardware/software troubleshooting, imaging systems, and device integration.
• Knowledge of EHR systems (axiUm, Dentrix, Epic, etc.) and medical/dental imaging standards (DICOM, PACS).
• Familiarity with HIPAA/FERPA and handling of protected health information (PHI).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting dental or medical devices (e.g., CAD/CAM, radiography, CBCT).
• Vendor certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, or manufacturer-specific training such as Dentsply Sirona CEREC).
• Previous work in a dental, medical, or higher education IT setting.
• Project management or ITIL certification.

Job Summary

Manages multiple student computer and electrical engineering laboratories. Assembles research equipment, prepares new laboratories, and provides technical support. Maintains and tests equipment. Provides support and training on instruments and machinery. Serves as a resource to students, faculty, and staff.

Essential Functions
  • Provide technical support for dental-specific equipment (e.g., intraoral scanners, radiography units, cone-beam CTs, CAD/CAM milling units, 3D printers, furnaces).
  • Ensure integration of imaging devices with EHR (axiUm, Dentrix) and PACS systems.
  • Monitor and maintain device inventory, asset tracking, warranties, and maintenance schedules.
  • Support simulation lab and preclinical teaching technologies (manikins, haptic trainers, digital microscopes).
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware issues impacting patient care, instruction, and research.
  • Configure and maintain secure connections for clinical devices (wired/wireless, VLANs, firewalls).
  • Support data backup, imaging storage, and retrieval systems.
  • Train users on proper operation of IT equipment and digital dentistry systems.
  • Create and maintain user guides and documentation.
  • Collaborate with vendors (e.g., Dentsply Sirona, Planmeca, Carestream, Dexis) for repairs, updates, and system integration
  • Participate in equipment evaluations, pilots, and procurement planning.
Physical Effort
  • On-site support in dental clinics, labs, and classrooms.
  • Occasional evening/weekend work for equipment maintenance or upgrades.
  • Ability to lift and transport IT/dental equipment (up to ~40 lbs).
