Job Summary:
The Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences supports health sciences education, research, and
clinical innovation, managing an annual budget of approximately $1.6 billion. The Financial Analyst II supports the
office's financial operations by performing advanced accounting, reconciliation, and financial analysis functions
in an academic health sciences environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant
financial reporting; conducting complex accounting analysis; and serving as a key financial resource to senior
leadership across the University of Pittsburgh.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze moderately complex financial journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger
transactions.
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related reports.
Prepare, distribute, and analyze monthly income statements.
Investigate, document, and explain financial variances for departmental accounts, ensuring appropriate
classification of revenues and expenses.
Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and support special projects related to revenue and expenditures.
Collaborate with senior leadership across the University to communicate financial information and resolve
complex financial issues.
Job Summary
Prepares and analyzes moderately complex financial statements and handles assigned projects' expenses; prepares moderately complex to complex financial reports. Performs advanced analysis of financials, tracks progress and forecasts future trends, and assists with financial statement preparation.
Proficiency in Excel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong understanding of accounting principles.
Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
