Laboratory Research Technician I

A Laboratory Research Technician I position is available in the Becker Lab in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh. The lab investigates neuronal mechanisms underlying retinal diseases, including retinopathy of prematurity and diabetic retinopathy.
Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, or a related field.
Prior laboratory experience with animal handling, immunohistochemistry, or microscopy preferred. Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Job Summary
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Duties include assisting with animal experiments, tissue processing, molecular and histological assays, data collection and organization, and general laboratory maintenance including inventory and ordering.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time and perform routine laboratory tasks, including handling small equipment and materials.
