Installs, configures, and maintains enterprise systems and associated infrastructure across on premises and cloud environments. Supports the deployment, operation, and optimization of Windows and Linux systems, with an increasing focus on cloud platforms, automation, and AI enabled services. Works independently on moderately complex systems and infrastructure tasks while following established University and Health Sciences IT (HSIT) standards.
May have to travel to various HSIT supported locations for support. May have to adjust work schedule to support needs.
Job Summary
Installs, configures, and maintains systems and associated infrastructure at the enterprise level. Assists in designing architecture and planning deployment of complex servers and associated infrastructure. Evaluates and recommends effective tools for system and infrastructure maintenance and support. Architects and evaluates system enhancements to be implemented and serves as escalation and a top-tier point of contact for complex installation and upgrades.
• Installs, configures, and maintains Windows and Linux servers and associated infrastructure in physical, virtual, and cloud hosted environments. • Supports cloud based systems and services, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and lifecycle management. • Assists with the deployment and operation of AI enabled tools, automation platforms, and data driven services that support departmental and enterprise needs.• Adheres to University and HIST standards for system configuration, hosting locations, security, availability, performance, capacity, and reliability. • Performs routine system maintenance, patching, upgrades, and configuration changes following established change management procedures. • Troubleshoots and resolves moderately complex system and infrastructure issues, escalating when appropriate. • Conducts root cause analysis for system issues and contributes to corrective and preventive actions. • Assists in planning and implementing system enhancements, upgrades, and migrations under established architectural guidance. • Evaluates and recommends tools and technologies to improve system administration, monitoring, automation, and operational efficiency. • Creates and maintains technical documentation, procedures, and configuration standards for supported systems. • Supports authentication, authorization, and access control by integrating systems with Pitt Active Directory or other approved identity services. • Follows established protocols for data access, system permissions, and security compliance. • Tests system functionality, performance, and availability following maintenance or configuration changes. • Collaborates with Pitt IT and other technical teams to ensure systems integrate effectively within the enterprise environment. • Communicates effectively with end users and technical stakeholders regarding system status, changes, and issue resolution.
Light, Little physical effort. Duties are primarily Sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
