The Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking a Laboratory Research Technician to support biomedical research focused on the molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis. This role involves both independent and collaborative laboratory work, as well as oversight of day-to-day laboratory operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing biochemical, molecular biology, and bacteriology experiments for research projects under limited supervision, and assisting students and postdoctoral fellows with experimental work.
- Coordinating laboratory operations, including maintaining inventories, ordering supplies, preparing reagents, and ensuring proper maintenance and cleanliness of laboratory equipment and spaces.
- Analyzing experimental data, preparing progress reports, and assisting the Principal Investigator with presentations, publications, and grant proposals, as well as supporting trainees with scholarly outputs.
Job Summary
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Performs laboratory experiments and procedures in support of ongoing research studies, including sample preparation, data collection, and basic analysis, while ensuring compliance with protocols and safety standards. Maintains laboratory equipment, reagents, and records, and supports investigators with routine research and administrative tasks.
Requires frequent standing, walking, and repetitive hand motions while performing laboratory procedures, including pipetting and handling samples. Must be able to lift and move laboratory supplies and equipment (typically up to 25 lbs).
