Laboratory Research Technician II
University of Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, PA, USA
Lab Summary:
The broad focus of the Shiva Lab is to elucidate mechanisms by which mitochondrial function and bioenergetics regulate platelet function to determine vascular and hematological physiology and disease pathogenesis. The basic and translational lab uses primary and cultured cell models along with transgenic murine mice and clinical samples to investigate mechanistic pathways of mitochondrial signaling and its role in pathogenesis.
Specific Duties:
- Isolate human platelets from blood and measure thrombotic and inflammatory activity
- Measure physiological parameters in murine models of hemophilia
- Data analysis and manuscript drafting based on data collected in the lab.
Job Summary
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
Essential Skills Required:
-Knowledge and ability to isolate platelets and other blood cells.
