The Kaplan Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh seeks an organized, motivated Research Technician with molecular biological or microbiological expertise for studies of gene expression mechanisms and the function of RNA Polymerase II. Duties will primarily be research related involving understanding mechanisms of gene expression in model systems. Experience with molecular cloning, and standard protein and DNA work is required (PCR, qPCR). Experience in Western blotting, protein expression and purification, column chromatography, etc. is a plus. Excellent organization skills are required. Good communication skills are required. Experience with yeast or bacterial model systems is a plus. Mentoring of undergraduate researchers in basic lab techniques and molecular biology will be a portion of the job.
