$55,955.00 - $78,336.00The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARYThe Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) of the University of Rochester is a unique national resource for research and education in science and technology. LLE was established in 1970 as a center for the investigation of the interaction of intense radiation with matter.
The Facility Operations Division is seeking a technician to help prepare and support the laser equipment. A successful candidate will be challenged by the wide range of technologies used to
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the installation and operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments
- Troubleshoot optical, mechanical, and electrical issues and identify potential solutions
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Participate in the design and installation of new equipment
- Handling of radiation materials – will be required to qualify as a NYS Radiation Safety Worker
- Shift flexibility is required (Morning and Evening shifts)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics required
- 1 year of relevant experience required
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software operation
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and navigate stairs/ladders
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong interpersonal skills working in a team-based environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience with electrical, controls, and vacuum systems
- Experience handing precision optical components
- Proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics
