$25.79 - $33.52The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Completes introductory competencies required to perform specialized testing and support for the laboratory section. Performs technical assignments with supervisory oversight.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs and interprets routine Blood Bank tests, including ABO/Rh typing, direct and indirect antiglobulin tests, cross matches, transfusion reaction workups, fetal screen, and Kleihauer-Betke stains.
- Performs circulator duties, including logging in of specimens, checking patient computer files, prioritizing and triaging work, component preparation, component issues, and answering phones.
- Completes blood product processing and manipulation, including rejuvenation, freezing, deglycerolizing, washing, pooling, and thawing. Completes corresponding paperwork.
- Performs daily reagent quality control (E) and participates in equipment quality control and preventative maintenance.
- Performs serologic testing to assist in the identification of antibodies using routine antibody panels and reference procedures, including the use of enzymes, synsorbs, absorptions/elutions, antibody titrations, antigen screening, and other specialized tests.
- Performs irradiation of blood products.
- Performs retypes on units received from other facilities, processes, and inputs products into inventory, monitors inventory levels for appropriateness, and orders additional products if necessary.
- Assists in stocking supplies, cleaning general lab areas, and answering phones when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Associate's degree in Medical Technology required or
- Associate's degree program in a natural science or clinical laboratory science and coursework acceptable to the NYSED required
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Understanding of instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control and adherence to all policies (Hospital and Laboratory) required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Clinical Laboratory Technician NYS license eligible upon hire required
