The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE
This position provides high level Information Technology analysis, troubleshooting, design, implementation, training and operational support for the departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery Faculty and Staff. Delivery of services includes remote and hands-on support with excellent customer service skills. Maintain expertise in current desktop and network technologies, as well as a wide range of systems, applications, and customized needs in support of Neuromedicine Information Technology functions. This Neuro-IT Team member will have significant responsibility for the positive outcome of IT infrastructure. In addition, this role will be instrumental in the departments website design/content updates including multimedia video/photo editing, hallway Public TV news updates, with an emphasis on meeting support practices and technologies. Asset inventory, documentation and disposition services will play a large part in day-to-day activities as well as annual department wide reviews/reporting on hardware end of life cycle replacement budgeting. There will also be a requirement to participate in a rotational (~ Every 4 Weeks) 7 Day on-call 24X7 coverage.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • This role provides direct support of the Neurology and Neurosurgery Departments.
  • A high level of understanding in Windows, Mac, Linux - Desktop, Laptop, Server, Operating Systems, Networking, Printer, and Peripheral devices are recommended.
  • They will Assess, interpret and analyze customer technical problems received via multiple vectors.
  • Utilize strong technical expertise to diagnose and resolve problems related to client technologies.
  • Maintain working knowledge of wide range of Medical Center applications and technologies.
  • Provide first and second level technical response to support urgent and emergency technical and application problems at on and off-site locations.
  • Participates in 24/7/365 NeuroIT on call rotation (~ Every 4 Weeks).
  • Acts as our Lead Website Content Manager, including working with Web Services, providing direct website updates for our customers, including multimedia/graphics design support, along with support of our hallway digital signage refresh of public event announcements.
  • In addition, this role will require an emphasis on departmental meeting support for in-person and hybrid events via Zoom-MS-Teams, including Visiting Professor, Retreats, Business Meetings, Training Events and others located on/off-site throughout the year.
  • Configures, installs, repairs, troubleshoots technology in support of Neurology/Neurosurgery.
  • Determines appropriate, cost-effective resolution and implements.
  • Consults with customers to understand business issues and synthesizes appropriate solution based on best practice, procedure, and personal knowledge and experience.
  • This role allows for independent judgement, with the ability to escalate/collaborate toward a goal that meets the customer’s needs.
  • Will serve as a trainer to less experienced or new team members.
  • Complex or delicate situations may be escalated to this team member to resolve directly or work with leadership if necessary to resolve.
  • Provide general system and application administration to Neuromedicine specific server and client resources.
  • Create system design and technology proposals for departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Propose and support system activities related to administration, maintenance, and coordinate all activities with our partners in ISD and Vendors where appropriate.
  • There will be direct responsibility for asset management, documentation, reporting and hardware end of life rotation based on our URMC EOL Standards.
  • Hardware Asset management plays a large role throughout the year and when at its peak during the financial budget season.
  • Will serve in a backup capacity to our NMD and SEC Systems Engineers in support of our EMG and XLTEK systems as well as assist with application and hardware project management during downtime, upgrades and relocations.
  • Participates in self-development and in person training as needed in keeping up with the advancements and security requirements of the systems they support.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent Required
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering Preferred
  • 3 years of related experience Required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience Required


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, as appropriate, to communicate, and to process communications from others on technical change Required
  • Ability to present technology in non-technical terms and recognize the extent to which a given audience requires this Required
  • Ability to provide on-call support as required, and ability to perform after-hours and weekend maintenance and implementation activities Required
  • Ability to travel to and from Data Center facilities Required
  • Experience in higher education and/or a healthcare environment Preferred
  • Expertise with virtualization technology and/or server operating systems preferred
  • Knowledge of server hardware and/or storage array networks preferred
  • Experience with orchestration and automation tools and/or with cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure preferred
  • Strong scripting skills preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills preferred
  • Advanced level of Mac/PC and Windows expertise and understanding (3-4 years hands on experience). Preferred
  • Proficiency in Windows/MACs/IOS/Android devices, handheld, and other peripheral devices. Preferred
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including outstanding oral and written communications. Preferred
  • Understanding of network technologies, including design, hardware, and protocols, as well as advanced problem-solving skills and general website design experience. Preferred
