$19.96 - $27.94The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
The purpose of this job is to assist lab researchers with their experiments. The lab principal investigator, postdoctoral researcher, and PhD student will design experiments that involve the focal organism (the aphid). This person would implement the experiments under their supervision and record data.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Molecular biology experiments: DNA extraction
- Molecular biology experiments: PCR and gel electrophoresis
- Immunohistochemistry: making solutions, processing samples, microscopy
- Aphid experiments: performing crowding experiments
- Aphids stock maintenance and expansion of stocks in preparation for experiments
- Record experimental outcomes and input data into a spreadsheet
- Trains undergraduate researchers
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- BA or BS preferred
- Have worked in a research lab environment; have worked with insects preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic molecular biology skills (e.g., PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA extraction), notetaking required
