Hiring Range: $6,674.01 - $9,107.96/Monthly

The Director of Research Operations collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration in the College of Pharmacy to implement and direct the day-to-day operations, human resources, facilities, grants management, internal relations and budget and financial management of the College. The Director completes comprehensive financial projections and any supporting analyses. This position provides direct oversight of all College of Pharmacy pre- and post-award activities, including all grant & contract submissions via the Cayuse Evisions Routing System to include budget development, financial reporting and grant management, as well as monitoring expenditures to ensure compliance with appropriate guidelines and regulations and ledger account reconciliations and distribution to assigned Principal Investigators.

Responsibilities

  1. Directs the functions of the Office of Research in the College of Pharmacy.
  2. Directs the supervision and management of the restricted fiscal resources of the College.
  3. Completes financial and supporting statistical data analytics and reporting for the College.
  4. Reviews, analyzes, and oversees accounts and the utilization of funds at the departmental, account, or unit level for appropriateness; provides input regarding budget adjustments.
  5. Provides financial information and analyses as needed to the Associate Dean of Research and other Dean’s office personnel for college research reports, monthly reconciliations and expenditure reports, budget projections, and other fiscal/audit reports.
  6. Identifies and helps resolve issues related to proposal submissions in collaboration with the pre-award Administration, Research Contracts team and other key resources.
  7. Directs the financial and administrative management of pre-award and post-award functions of the college.
  8. Plans, develops, implements, and directs the annual, interim, and day-to-day functions of the Office of Research in the College.
  9. Manages the calculation of research incentive payments according to established policies in effect.
  10. Establishes and monitors internal controls to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting policies and practices.
  11. Coordinates internal and external audits, addressing findings, and driving improvements.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (Master’s Degree preferred.) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of progressive experience (preferably in a university setting) that includes finance administration, program management, or human resources responsibilities; OR Master’s Degree and three (3) years of progressive experience (preferably in a university setting) that includes finance administration, program management, or human resources responsibilities;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) with executives, researchers, vendors, and staff.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the management issues in a highly complex educational and research environment.
  • Demonstrated senior-level ability to define issues, strategically plan options and devise and implement workable solutions.
  • Strong human resources, financial and analytical expertise in management, budget, forecasting, and development.
  • Ability to accurately work with detailed data and continuously monitor and improve systematic approaches to financial planning and reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite experience. (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook).
  • Ability to maintain sensitive, confidential, and personal issues.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects that require demonstrated leadership ability.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends, with occasional travel.
