Research Associate (Postdoctoral)- Cell Biology

The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate (Postdoctoral) scholar to join the lab of Dr. Laura Newman. The lab researches the biology of how mitochondria regulate innate immune signaling.
Responsibilities include:
Independently drive a research project within the scope of the ongoing research in the Newman lab.
Be responsible for analyzing and summarizing experimental results for internal and external presentations and for progress reports and publications.
Supervision of junior staff, undergraduate and graduate students.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Doctoral degree
Preferred Qualifications
Education: A Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or related field is required by the start date of the appointment.
Experience: Substantial expertise in an area of inquiry related to the research ongoing in the lab, such as molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, virology, or other related fields.
Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Salary Range: The anticipated salary is $62,000
Exemption Status: This is an exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits.
Funding Details: This is a restricted position. This position has a term limit of 1 year after which continued employment will depend on department need and funding.
Work Arrangement: This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site.
