Research Interventionist (Staff Wage)

The Department of Public Health Sciences in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia (UVA) is currently seeking a motivated public health and/or behavioral science professional to act as a Research Interventionist to support the execution of community-based research projects related to obesity, and cancer. This position is with Dr. Becca Krukowski’s team and in affiliation with the UVA’s Community-Based Health Equity Research Program and the UVACCC Cancer Prevention and Population Health (CPH) Program.
The Research Interventionist will be responsible for implementing various intervention components such as:
- facilitating Zoom-based videoconference online group “sessions” focused on dietary and exercise habit change as part of a lifestyle modification program
- conducting individual coaching calls with participants
- maintaining records of treatment engagement (e.g., participant attendance at group chats and coaching calls
- reviewing participant performance in the program, including weight loss, self-monitoring completion, website utilization and program engagement
- monitoring discussion board participation
- providing feedback to participants.
These tasks will occur on a recurring basis, estimated at 5-10 hrs/week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience required.
Licensure: None.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in nutrition, physical activity, public health, behavioral science, health sciences, or related field.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent communication skills, including with diverse audiences.
- Experience conducting behavioral weight management interventions.
