Dr. Scott Heysell with Infectious Diseases at UVA School of Medicine is searching for a Lab Tech to join a clinical research team. This role will provide support within the clinical research lab and follow standard procedures. The role will work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists of different training levels and communicate with international colleagues regularly, but will report to a singular supervisor.
The principal activities of the role include:
- Procurement of supplies
- Shipment and receipt of samples and materials
- Preparing documents for regulatory review
- Data cleaning and organizing
- Data visualization
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: At least 1 year of lab experience, which may include student experience required.
Licensure: None.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Global Studies, Public Health, Data Science or related field.
- Public health and data analytics experience and have worked in clinical research teams.
- Professional experience with foreign collaboration and travel.
- Analytic skillsets - familiar with Office programs, data visualization programs, and data summarization tools such as R.
- Strong communication skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals*. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures* requiring finer finger manipulation.
* This role is not expected to involve animal-related work.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. This is a non-exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits.
This is a restricted position, which is dependent on funding and is contingent upon funding availability.
