Undergraduate Academic Affairs has an outstanding opportunity for an Associate Director for the Office of Undergraduate Research to join their team. Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UAA) shapes, advances and stewards a world-class undergraduate academic experience for students at the University of Washington. Staff, faculty and students in UAA deepen and enrich the learning experience for all undergraduates, recognizing and supporting the unique learning path of each individual student and the commitment of each academic program to excellence in learning and teaching. Within UAA, the Office of Undergraduate Research plays a critical role in helping undergraduates enrich their academic experience through engagement in exciting, hands-on research with UW faculty and other research mentors. The Office of Undergraduate Research promotes student engagement in research across all disciplines and provides centralized support for undergraduate research at the University of Washington. The Office of Undergraduate Research staff facilitate several undergraduate research programs, host the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium, and help students identify faculty mentors and research goals during advising and informational sessions. We also facilitate workshops for faculty looking to elevate their mentorship practices and create spaces for community building. The Associate Director for the Office of Undergraduate Research will play a critical role in facilitating our advanced STEM undergraduate research scholarship programs and supporting early career research programming by overseeing our advising and outreach efforts. They will also play a key role in supporting the early career research initiative, the Undergraduate Research Collective, through course instruction and supporting other programmatic needs. A large portion of this position involves planning and facilitating the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. Planning for the Symposium continues year-round, and the Associate Director manages the event workflow, delegates tasks across the team, and is primarily responsible for ensuring the team is on track for a successful event. Finally, the Associate Director works closely with the Director to build and sustain a welcoming, inclusive, and collaborative team environment where Office of Undergraduate Research staff feel fully supported and encouraged to pursue their own professional development. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Program Management and Outreach (50%) o Supports recruitment, application review, cohort selection, and student programming. o Leads advising with program students, communications with faculty as needed, and Levinson Award student supply budget tracking. Event Planning (25%) Supervisory and Team Development (15%) Administrative Responsibilities (10%) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
