The College of Environment has an outstanding opportunity for a RSE-Assistant (Temporary Project Appointment) to join their team. The person in this position will function as an entry-level biologist providing fishery research support in a team whose main task is the investigation of fish trophic interactions in the North Pacific and defining the management implications of the interactions. This research is accomplished mainly through large-scale collection of fish stomachs aboard research vessels, the subsequent stomach analysis in the lab utilizing dissecting microscopes and knowledge of marine fish and invertebrate taxonomy, and the incorporation of the resulting data into a fish food habits data base. The database is subjected to analyses that provide predation mortality estimates of commercial fishes and other data of interest to management and other research programs.
