Position Overview: The Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington, one of the nation’s top-ranked computer science graduate programs, seeks highly motivated and qualified Research Assistants (RA) to join its cutting-edge, full-time PhD program. The successful candidate will support ongoing research projects in computer science, contributing to innovative solutions and advancements in the field. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about research and eager to contribute to the forefront of technology. The position is open to US domestic and international students on F1 or J1 visas.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Allen School faculty and other researchers on assigned projects.
- Conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, and interpret results.
- Develop software, algorithms, and models relevant to the research projects.
- Contribute to the writing, analysis, and publication of research papers and reports at technical conferences.
- Participate in lab meetings, seminars, and other collaborative activities.
- Assist in mentoring undergraduate students or junior lab members as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated foundational knowledge in software engineering, statistics, programming, data structures and algorithms, operating systems, and networks.
- Proven research experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have published work in recognized conferences or journals.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used in research (e.g., Python, C++, Java).
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analysis skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a research lab or on significant research projects. (e.g. REU, etc)
- Familiarity with modern software development practices and tools.
- Experience with data analysis, machine learning, or artificial intelligence.
