The David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo (cs.uwaterloo.ca) is one of the world’s most prominent computer science institutions, with a legacy of leadership in computer science research and education. Our School is the home to more than 100 faculty members and is educating more than 400 graduate students and 4,000 undergraduate students. It enjoys an excellent reputation in pure and applied research, ranking 1st in Canada and 22nd in the world. Our research spans the field of computer science, from core work on systems, theory, AI and machine learning, databases, programming languages, and software engineering to cyber-security, human-computer interaction, information retrieval, scientific and mathematical computing, and quantum computing. The School has an active Women in Computer Science (WiCS) group that promotes gender equity in computing by advocating for and supporting women, trans, gender-fluid, gender-queer, and non-binary students enrolled in computer science and related computing programs at the University of Waterloo.
