The Pharmacy Systems Specialist will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting pharmacy automation and technology systems throughout the organization. Incumbents in this role serve as the main point of contact for all pharmacy medication management systems, including ADC, BCMA and Codonics. The Pharmacy Systems Specialist facilitates all training, installation and maintenance of systems, and works to develop new and improved ways of utilizing technology to streamline pharmacy processes and operations. He/She is also responsible for drug procurement and delivery to off-site clinics.

Essential Duties:

  • Facilitate training, installation, maintenance, and overall use of medication management tools (ie. ADC, BCMA, Codonics,) throughout the organization.
  • Responsible for all clinic drug procurement.
  • Responsible for drug delivery to off-site clinics.
  • Recommend procedural, workflow and policy changes as appropriate.
  • Develops, updates and maintains training documents where applicable.
  • Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
  • Troubleshoots issues with ADC, BCMA, Codonics as well as downtime procedures.
  • Develop new and unique ways to improve operations of the technology in pharmacy and to create new opportunities.
  • Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and /or resolve the problems.
  • Work independently with minimal instruction to prioritize and organize work assignments and/or projects.
  • Understands LEAN process and partners with interdisciplinary team to design systems that enable better efficiency and improved.
  • Escalate issues appropriately and expeditiously to appropriate individuals.
  • Accepts extra duties upon request and completes in a timely and high quality manner.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with onsite peers, technical support staff, administrative staff, and healthcare professionals within the facility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High school or equivalent
  • Req Specialized/technical training Graduation from accredited Pharmacy Technician School Program
  • Req 2 years Hospital In-Patient Facility experience.
  • Req Experience with and proficient use of medication management systems (including ADC, BCMA and Codonics).
  • Req Individual should be able to communicate and interact effectively with a variety of healthcare professionals.
  • Req Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.
  • Req Organization/time management skills.
  • Req Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Pharmacy Technician (CA DCA) Registration with California State Board of Pharmacy (Technician).
  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The hourly rate range for this position is $25.00 - $39.69.
