Role Purpose
To successfully design, document and deliver Sequel Rulebook solutions for our clients, to scope, to budget, on time and to optimal quality standards.
To provide thought leadership to the Rulebook team, and to influence the direction of our client delivery function. To support the Director of Pricing solutions with achieving the strategic targets.
Responsibilities
Client Delivery (external perspective)
- Consult with clients to analyse and evaluate their needs, translating these into business and functional requirements and user stories. This may be undertaken in a number of ways, as is appropriate, such as:
- Structured workshops
- 121 interviews
- Group meetings
- Ad-hoc, informal discussions
- Developing technical designs and solutions for Rulebook platform and product implementations, ensuring best practice at all times.
- To work with clients to optimise their benefit realisation and cost management.
- Supporting clients’ wider project, programme and portfolio delivery activity, to ensure the best possible adoption of Rulebook solutions, this might involve supporting and informing:
- Business Case Development and opportunity identification
- Blueprint design and target ‘future state’ design
- Business Process Mapping and re-engineering
- User Acceptance Testing support
- Supporting pre-sales proof of concept and demo work, to communicate Rulebook features and benefits to existing and new clients.
- Attend client pre-sales sessions to provide the technical and business subject matter expertise, and contribute to the business case proposal for the engagement.
- Support Account Management activity to develop and maintain the credible profile of Rulebook and Sequel.
- Developing a climate of trust and integrity, building professional credibility and strong relationships with clients and their management and project teams.
- Managing challenges and possible conflicts with absolute professionalism.
Technical Delivery (internal perspective)
- Translating client business and functional needs into Rulebook solutions.
- Developing and deploying appropriate software development methodologies, in line with best practice, from pre-analysis (discovery), to post-implementation review and continuous improvement.
- Preparation for client engagements, including such activities as workshop planning, resource planning and team briefing.
- Informing the creation of project Statements of Works, with pre-sales, account management, project managers and the Head of Delivery.
- Working with pre-sales, account management and project teams to inform credible and accurate project estimates.
- The production, management, review and assurance of project documentation and products, through drafting and internal reviews, to client approval, testing and approval.
- Maintain an awareness of ‘continuous improvement’ during engagements and ensure project delivery has this at its heart.
- Interfacing with the core Rulebook and Sequel product teams to inform Product Roadmap lifecycle development.
Team Management
- Lead the team of Product SMEs to identify the strategic direction of configuration, and to seek out ways to improve client delivery.
- Leading and supporting a Rulebook configuration team, resolving any problems, and maintaining morale by doing so with integrity.
- All performance management for team-members to develop technical and behavioural capability, incl.
- Regular reviews
- Objective setting: development, agreement and monitoring
- Formal and informal feedback
- Coordination and support of technical training, coaching and mentoring
- Allocation and management of work-packages across the team, to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
- Chair team meetings, internal solution development meetings and stand-ups, maintaining accurate logs of output to continuously improve team and departmental capability and performance.
- Any other duties commensurate to the grade of the role.
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree Level or equivalent.
- Insurance Industry experience.
- Proven track record of gathering and analysing client requirements and developing specifications.
- Experience of working in a software development lifecycle in a range of methodologies (waterfall, agile, etc.).
- Highly literate and numerate.
Desirable
- Specific London Market insurance domain knowledge is advantageous.
- Experience of working within the Insurance Market in an underwriting/actuarial role.
- A degree education in an IT discipline may be helpful, but is not essential.
- Exposure to actuarial and pricing functions and models.
- Knowledge of development toolsets, e.g. ASP.net.
