Role Purpose

Write, debug, maintain and test our products (existing ones, new modules on existing applications or completely new products). Work with other stakeholders (junior developers, dev managers and technical leads, analysis, test, project management, product owners) to complete the work on the agreed timelines and with the required quality. Review the work of other less experienced developers and guide them.

Join Morning Data as an Oracle Development Engineer III and play a key role in designing, building and enhancing cutting-edge insurance software solutions, working with modern Oracle technologies to deliver high-quality systems used across the global insurance market.
  • 5+ years’ experience of software development on Oracle databases.

  • Strong knowledge of PL/SQL.

  • Use of JSON data structures including manipulation and transformation with focus on data exchange with external systems via RESTful APIs.

  • Experience of Oracle REST Data Services and OCI.

  • Able to build a close relationship with other development teams.

  • Working knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle.

  • Strong ability to document development including database design, application design and ongoing documentation of changes and modifications.

  • Deep understanding about performance and scalability implications in the development process and experience with performance monitoring tools.

  • Ability to review code written by others and provide feedback and recommendations to follow coding guideline.

  • Able to provide estimates and raise concerns about deadlines / timescales.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to continuously changing technology.

  • Be able to design considering operational costs.

  • Ability to take the ownership of a business-critical area and provide feedback and recommendations to analysts and architects for the implementation of new features.

  • Ability to do a risk analysis.

  • Creating proofs of concept for adopting new technology into our products.

  • Investigate new trends and technologies in database-related area.

  • Support integration to 3rd party systems.

  • Scopes, implements, tests and deploys new features and versions of core applications, databases and utilities.

  • Gives input to the stakeholder analysis, to make sure we don’t miss any voices.

  • Performs hands-on coding and assists in the design of solutions.

  • Raises issues during development cycle (running late, blockers, lack of analysis, etc.), making sure there are no surprises close to deadline.

  • Prepares reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software.

  • Assists with providing third-level support to business users.

  • Participates actively on reviews and technical design meetings and provide valuable feedback.

  • Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • Ensures that secure coding practices and other company policies are followed throughout the software lifecycle.

  • Updates progress in work tracking systems (i.e. move items to the right status, remaining effort, etc.), and also reviews the changes done by others.

  • Coordinates with QA on how to efficiently test items to not duplicate testing, and also make sure the regression is covered.

  • Mentor Software Developer Engineers & technical leads of all levels on SQL aspects.

  • Any other duties commensurate to the grade of the role.

  • Obtain at least CII certification to appreciate how the insurance industry works.
