Technical Product Analyst

The Technical Product Analyst is a key contributor to the evolution and success of Verisk Canada’s suite of products. The incumbent will have strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), requirements gathering, product discovery, and product development. They will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to define, refine, and deliver product enhancements, customized solutions, and technical documentation that drive product stability, customer value, and sustainable competitive advantage.
In this role, the Technical Product Analyst will analyze product performance, identify improvement opportunities across web-based customer portals and internal delivery systems, and support continuous product optimization. This includes developing productive working relationships with developers, analysts, and clients, and providing knowledgeable support to help solve product-related challenges.

- 3–5 years of experience in product analysis, business analysis, property insurance, risk control, or a related technical discipline.
- Post-secondary certificate or degree in computer science, statistics, information systems, or related field preferred.
- Solid understanding of business and technical requirements analysis, with strong competency in translating needs into actionable product deliverables.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, particularly requirements documentation, testing practices, and collaboration with engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Understanding of modern data interchange formats (XML, JSON, etc.).
- Proficiency in database querying (SQL, MongoDB, Postgres, etc.) for product analysis and data validation.
- Ability to support web service implementations, product enhancements, and customer-facing technical inquiries.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to prioritize work effectively.
- Formal project management training and experience is an asset.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify product needs and translate business and user requirements into well-defined specifications for successful delivery.
- Prepare detailed technical requirements and partner with developers and architects to design scalable, effective product solutions.
- Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders, clients, and development teams, ensuring alignment throughout the product lifecycle.
- Facilitate and participate in technical discussions with developers, data analysts, and other product contributors.
- Maintain strong understanding of assigned product lines, including features, value propositions, and competitive context.
- Manipulate, analyze, and validate large datasets to support product decisions and performance evaluations.
- Create and update product documentation, user guides, FAQs, frontline support materials, and technical references as required.
- Apply Agile methodologies to support iterative product delivery and continuous improvement.
- Conduct product research, competitive analysis, and strategic discovery to support long-term product direction.
- Provide clear reporting and insights to management regarding product performance, feature delivery, and ongoing initiatives.
- Contribute to organizational projects and cross-team initiatives as required.
