Position: Senior Data Scientist
Job Location: 850 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066
Duties: Develop custom data models to drive innovative business solutions. Build complex data sets from multiple data sources, both internally and externally. Conduct advanced statistical analysis to determine trends and significant data relationships. Build learning systems to analyze and filter continuous data flows and offline data analysis. Train algorithms to apply models to new data sets. Validate models and algorithmic techniques. Scale new algorithms to large data sets. Combine data features to determine search models. Research new techniques and best practices within the industry. Utilize system tools including (MySQL, Hadoop, Weka, R, Matlab,ILog). A Data Scientist is responsible for analyzing large data sets to develop custom models and algorithms to drive business solutions. Data Scientists work on project teams in order to provide analytical support to projects (for example, email targeting, business optimization, consumer recommendations) for Walmart eCommerce. Data Scientists are responsible for building large data sets from multiple sources in order to build algorithms for predicting future data characteristics. Those algorithms will be tested, validated, and applied to large data sets. Data Scientists are responsible for training the algorithms so they can be applied to future data sets and provide the appropriate search results. Data Scientists are responsible for researching new trends in the industry and utilizing up-to-date technology (for example, HBase, MapReduce, LAPack, Gurobi) and analytical skills to support their assigned project. Work with cross-functional partners across the business. Develop models of current state in order to determine needed improvements.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years of experience in analytics related field.
Skills required: Experience analyzing large and complex datasets to measure customer behaviors and inform business growth opportunities. Experience with Data Visualization utilizing Excel, Python, PowerBI, and Tableau. Experience researching, creating and implementing advanced statistical models and cutting-edge machine learning algorithms on fast-moving structured and unstructured data to support decision making. Experience designing and implementing scalable and maintainable machine learning (ML) systems with Python. Experience integrating deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for ML models. Experience with Database Management with one of the following relational and non-relational databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL. Experience working on one of the following Big Data tools: Hadoop GCP, or Pyspark. Experience guiding and mentoring junior data scientists on modeling process and algorithm while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Experience with one of the following cloud-based data services: AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. Experience leading projects and taking ownership of the whole lifecycle of projects including prototype model and data process code and communicating with cross-functional teams to align progress and collaborate on integrations. Experience communicating findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear and concise reports, visualizations and presentations to gain alignment and drive business actions. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $133,952/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
