What you'll do:
The Group Director of Software Engineering / People Tech (IDC) is a senior technology and people leader responsible for driving global strategy, delivery excellence, and organizational maturity across critical People Tech platforms and services. This role provides unified global leadership across the Wellbeing and Global time & Attendance (GTA) portfolios, while also serving as the IDC site leader for People Tech and People Services.
This role is pivotal during a period of significant scale and transformation, requiring a leader who can balance visionary platform leadership, GenAI-driven innovation, operational rigor, and people leadership across large, globally distributed organizations. The Group Director will partner closely with product, Global People leadership, business, and operations leaders to deliver scalable, resilient, AI-enabled, and business-critical platforms, while building a strong and sustainable leadership pipeline for the future.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Owning the global technology vision, strategy, roadmap, and delivery for Wellbeing and GTA platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise People Tech and business priorities.
- Leading a 230-associate global organization, aligning technology execution, delivery outcomes, and operational performance across regions and time zones.
- Driving platform-first thinking, standardization, and reuse to improve scalability, reliability, and speed of innovation.
- Strengthening governance, quality, security, and compliance in line with global standards and enterprise expectations.
- Ensuring seamless collaboration across product, HR, business, and operations partners, enabling clarity of ownership and execution consistency.
- Translating CxO-level objectives into actionable roadmaps, initiatives, OKRs, and metrics-driven success measures.
- Proactively identifying and mitigating delivery risks, dependencies, and execution challenges, ensuring predictable and high-quality outcomes.
- Serving as the IDC Location Leader for People Tech, representing and enabling 430 Technology Associates.
- Providing mentorship and leadership to Directors and senior leaders across Engineering, Product, and Services.
- Acting as the strategic bridge between global People Tech leadership and IDC teams, ensuring strong alignment and execution.
- Driving performance management, succession planning, and leadership pipeline development.
- Fostering a leadership culture centered on accountability, engagement, innovation, and inclusion.
- Representing the IDC leadership voice in global forums, ensuring strong two-way communication and alignment.
- Providing location leadership for 480 People Services associates as the organization transitions from setup to maturity.
- Driving operational excellence, productivity, quality, and adoption of tech-enabled optimization.
- Establishing structured governance, execution discipline, and performance metrics.
- Serving as the senior escalation point and unblocker, ensuring seamless coordination between global and local leadership.
- Championing process re-engineering, automation, and innovation through People Tech capabilities.
- Balancing global direction with local realities to ensure sustainable growth and organizational maturity.
- Building, mentoring, and retaining a world-class leadership team, fostering high performance and career growth.
- Creating a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Promoting a strong platform and product mindset with a focus on customer experience and measurable business outcomes.
- Driving cost optimization, efficiency improvements, and operational resilience across portfolios.
- Ensuring transparency, accountability, and outcome-based execution across large-scale global organizations.
What you'll bring:
- 18+ years of experience in technology leadership, with significant experience leading large, global organizations.
- Proven success as a senior engineering or technology leader (L5 equivalent) managing complex portfolios.
- Strong experience in platform engineering, enterprise systems, or large-scale people/HR technology platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into technology execution and measurable outcomes.
- Deep experience in people leadership, organizational design, and leadership development.
- Experience working in or leading large offshore/global delivery centers (IDC experience preferred).
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and partner at CxO and SVP levels.
- A strong inclination towards innovation, committed to advancing technology solutions and introducing new methods to address complex challenges.
