The Global Tech Platform organization builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are Developer Experience and Productivity, Gen-AI, data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.
About the team...
The Wibey Web team develops and maintains the browser-based interface for Wibey, Walmart’s intelligent orchestration platform for software development and operations. They enable users to search content across internal sources, leverage AI to enhance prompts, and access trusted answers with citations. They also provide SDKs that allow different teams within Walmart to contribute to and extend the platform. The team’s mission is to support everyone who builds or runs software at Walmart by providing a unified entry point to tools, documentation, and agent-powered actions throughout the entire SDLC (plan, build, ship, run).

Role Summary...
As a Staff, Software Engineer for Walmart’s new Developer super-agent, Wibey, you will work with other technical leaders on the team to architect and build the Wibey Client experience for Walmart developers.
You'll be building the foundation for how thousands of developers leverage AI across Walmart's technology ecosystem, architecting solutions for the Web surface of Wibey. From defining standards and building tools (an SDK) for integrations with other apps and agents to exploring and identify new use-cases and user-flows, your work will directly impact developer productivity, code quality, and innovation velocity at enterprise scale

What you'll do:
- Build the Platform
- Design and implement Wibey Web, App integrations and extensions that provide seamless AI-assisted development workflows
- Design scalable front-end and back-end systems to support a web interface capable of accommodating thousands of developers.
- Build integration with internal tools using MCP
- Drive Innovation
- Create agentic solutions that intelligently automate developer workflows: code generation, testing, PR reviews, documentation, and deployment
- Implement quality benchmarking frameworks to measure AI-generated code correctness and developer productivity impact
- Design enterprise governance controls that balance developer velocity with security and compliance requirements
- Lead and Collaborate
- Partner with product managers, platform engineers, and security teams to define and execute the Wibey roadmap
- Establish engineering best practices and quality standards for AI-assisted development
- Mentor junior engineers on the team
- Stay ahead of the rapidly evolving GenAI landscape and bring emerging capabilities to Walmart developers
What you'll bring:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with proven expertise in building developer-facing tools and platforms
- Deep understanding of developer experience (DevEX) principles and productivity optimization
- Extensive experience in full-stack software development with proficiency in React, Java, JavaScript, Python, and related frameworks.
- Production experience integrating LLM/GenAI capabilities into enterprise systems and understanding technologies like Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Gemini CLI, or similar)
- Strong systems design skills for building scalable, resilient backend and frontend services
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead architectural discussions, mentor peers, and influence technical direction across multiple teams.
- Proficiency in modern development tools and infrastructure (CLI frameworks, IDE extensions, API design)

Sunnyvale, California US-11657: The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-10735: The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
