About the team

The Information Security team has the herculean task of assuring that customers can safely shop with peace of mind knowing their data and information will be safe and secure. Solving some of the most unique cyber security problems in the industry, our team members share an elevated level of creativity and ingenuity to secure data for the largest retail operation in the world. Endpoint Security Engineering team is looking for Staff Engineer, who has passion in designing and development of software product and services in area of cyber security. Ideal candidates should have strong background in technology and security awareness. Some of the core technology experiences that are desirable for this role would be to have a good software development experience with both front end and backend technologies like integration with backend REST APIs, working with backend databases and exposure to cyber security domain.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the secure design and development of scalable applications and services, partnering closely with product, platform, and engineering teams.
  • Architect and implement Endpoint Security solutions, translating security requirements into robust, production-grade systems.
  • Develop high-quality solutions using Java, Go, Python, and React, leveraging both relational and non-relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra).
  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor, collaborating with security engineers, external teams, and partners to deliver features in an agile, fast-paced environment.
  • Drive end-to-end ownership of services, including deployment, operations, monitoring, reliability, reporting, and analytics.
  • Influence security architecture and best practices across teams, ensuring solutions align with business needs, compliance requirements, and evolving threat landscapes.

What You’ll bring

  • 10+ years of experience designing, building, and operating highly scalable, distributed applications and security platforms.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Java, Python or Go, with strong engineering fundamentals and a security-first mindset.
  • Strong experience building modern services using Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, JavaScript, React, and Node.js.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying multi-tier, cloud-native applications in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Demonstrated ability to create and review solution designs, integration flows, component architectures, and data models.
  • Solid hands-on experience with SQL, database design, and ORM frameworks, across both relational and NoSQL systems.
  • Strong understanding and implementation experience with authentication and authorization, including SSO, OAuth/OIDC, LDAP, and token-based security models.
  • Working knowledge of Endpoint Security concepts, such as endpoint telemetry, agent-based architectures, device trust, policy enforcement, and secure communications.
  • Good knowledge of information security fundamentals, including cryptography, PKI, key management, and SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management.
  • Strong Linux fundamentals, including system-level troubleshooting and security hardening.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) and building secure, resilient systems at scale.
  • Proven track record of driving secure-by-design architectures and embedding application and endpoint security controls into the SDLC and CI/CD pipelines, including automated security testing and policy enforcement.
  • Ability to influence across teams, balancing security, usability, performance, and business requirements.
  • Passion for building high-impact security solutions that operate reliably at enterprise scale.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and self-direction, with the ability to lead through ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex security and risk concepts into clear business and engineering guidance.
  • Holding security certifications such as CISSP, CSSLP, OSCP, GIAC certifications, or Cloud Security certifications is a strong plus, but not required
