Principal, Product Manager – Localization
About the role
Walmart Global Product is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution of our enterprise Localization & Translation Platform. This role sits within the Product Globalization team and will own the systems, AI-driven workflows, and platform capabilities that power localized experiences across Walmart’s global digital ecosystem — including eCommerce, Marketplace, Supply Chain, and Associate tools.
This is a highly strategic, enterprise-level individual contributor role. You will define multi-year platform strategy, drive AI-enabled transformation of localization workflows, and influence senior leadership across multiple product and engineering organizations.
Experience in both AI/ML-powered systems and localization platforms is required.
What You’ll Do
Product Strategy & Vision
- Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for Walmart’s Localization & Translation Platform aligned to business objectives and global market launches.
- Establish enterprise standards for internationalization (i18n), localization (l10n), terminology governance, and AI-enabled translation systems.
- Translate business needs into scalable platform capabilities that support global expansion.
AI-Driven Localization Innovation
- Partner with Platform Engineering and Data Science teams to operationalize generative AI and machine translation (MT) models in production environments.
- Design and scale human-in-the-loop systems to balance translation quality, cost efficiency, and speed.
- Develop and implement AI evaluation frameworks to measure multilingual performance, including translation accuracy, fluency, cultural appropriateness, bias detection, and safety.
- Establish quality benchmarks using structured evaluation methodologies.
- Evaluate and optimize MT engines, domain-adapted AI models, LLM-based translation pipelines, and automation frameworks.
- Define multilingual readiness gates and launch criteria for AI-powered features.
Platform Execution & Delivery
- Lead cross-functional delivery across engineering, ML/AI, design, localization operations, QA, and vendor partners.
- Own TMS integrations, linguistic QA systems, terminology and MT tuning interfaces, localization analytics, and CI/CD integration for localized releases.
- Drive the full product lifecycle: discovery, requirements, prioritization, PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, release planning, and performance tracking.
Enterprise Influence & Governance
- Own stakeholder engagement across global product teams, marketing/content, legal/compliance, and vendor/LSP partners.
- Evangelize localization and internationalization best practices across product organizations.
- Develop evaluation, instrumentation, and experimentation frameworks to continuously optimize cost, quality, and delivery velocity across markets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of Product Management experience.
- 3+ years in platform or infrastructure product roles.
- 3+ years directly owning localization, globalization, or translation systems.
- Proven experience shipping AI/ML-enabled products in production.
- Deep familiarity with:
- Translation Management Systems (TMS)
- Machine Translation engines (Google, DeepL, Microsoft, custom)
- LLM-based translation workflows
- Human-in-the-loop systems
- Internationalization engineering patterns
- Experience influencing Director+ and VP+ stakeholders across organizations.
- Demonstrated experience building enterprise roadmaps and securing executive buy-in.
- Strong technical fluency (AI/ML, APIs, pipelines, experimentation, automation).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience scaling localization in large consumer tech or enterprise companies.
- Experience implementing domain-adapted MT or custom LLM translation pipelines.
- Fluency in Spanish or French (or another major global language).
- Experience managing vendor ecosystems and global LSP partnerships.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
