What you'll do...Role summary:
We are looking for a passionate, creative full‑stack Staff Data Scientist to join Walmart's fraud detection team. You will have the unique opportunity to lead the development of advanced ML/AI systems that leverage massive business and social data generated by Walmart Inc.’s unparalleled online and offline commerce ecosystem.
About the team:
You will be responsible for driving technical strategy and using state‑of‑the‑art deep learning, machine learning, data mining, and anomaly detection techniques to architect, prototype, and guide the production of robust, scalable predictive models and analytic solutions. You will collaborate closely with and provide technical mentorship to a cross‑functional team of Data Scientists, Engineers, Product managers, and Business partners that operate at the intersection of Data Science, Big Data, IT infrastructure, and business operations. In addition to hands‑on modeling, you will shape the team’s technical direction, elevate modeling standards, and guide junior scientists through research and production best practices.

- Extensive experience with large‑scale data and distributed systems (GCP/BigQuery preferred).
- Strong programming skills in Java or JavaScript on Linux/UNIX and comfort working with engineering on production deployment.
- Proven experience deploying ML systems and driving MLOps rigor.
- Experience with GenAI/Agentic AI, deep learning, and evaluating emerging research to guide team innovation.
