We are looking for a skilled and motivated Software Engineer III (iOS) who can contribute to building and evolving Walmart’s iOS platform and customer experiences. This role requires strong iOS fundamentals, solid engineering judgment, and the ability to deliver high-quality features in a fast-paced environment. The candidate is expected to collaborate with global teams, understand the business context, contribute to technical design and implementation, participate in sprint planning, and support deployments and production readiness.

About Team:
The Acquisition and Discovery Engineering team at Walmart is dedicated to providing a seamless and delightful shopping experience to millions of shoppers worldwide. As a software engineer in this team, you will have the opportunity to work on top of the funnel shopping experience – Homepage, Content Pages for SEO and SEM, Search & Browse experiences, Deals and Item pages across mobile and web platforms.
This collaborative team made up of Engineering, UX, Product Management, Business and Analytics is rapidly iterating on new products and site features at scale. We deliver high performing solutions on our next generation front-end platform. Virtual Try-On, Gen AI integration, personalized complete-the-look, Video shopping, etc are just a few examples of the features developed by this team in collaboration with many other teams. Continuous experimentation, innovation and feedback by millions of customers makes this work even more exciting!
What you'll do:
As a Software Engineer III, you’ll help build and ship iOS applications that power Walmart’s e-commerce experience. You will:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality iOS features using modern iOS technologies and design patterns.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers and backend engineers to deliver seamless, secure, and intuitive mobile experiences.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and implement solutions that are scalable, testable, and maintainable.
- Own feature delivery for assigned projects from implementation to deployment and production monitoring, with guidance from senior/staff engineers as needed.
- Write clean, well-tested code and participate actively in code reviews, helping uphold engineering standards and best practices.
- Optimize app performance, reliability, and user experience using profiling tools, crash analytics, and performance dashboards.
- Troubleshoot production issues using observability and monitoring tools such as OpenObserve, and drive fixes to closure.
- Work within modular codebases and contribute to architectures that integrate with GraphQL APIs and microservices-based backends.
- Implement and maintain automated tests (unit/functional/E2E) to ensure quality and support high-confidence releases.
- Assist in evaluating and integrating third-party SDKs/APIs to improve customer experience and engagement.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in development workflows, CI/CD practices, and team engineering processes.
- Stay current with iOS ecosystem changes, Apple platform updates, and emerging mobile trends.
- Drive operational excellence by ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of production systems using AI-driven monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
- Champion engineering excellence through best practices such as code reviews, design reviews, and CI/CD, leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
- Implement AI-powered solutions for proactive issue detection, automated root cause analysis, and self-healing systems to reduce downtime and improve system resilience.
- Define and track key engineering and operational metrics, utilizing AI/analytics to drive continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
- Foster a culture of innovation by adopting modern AI technologies, encouraging experimentation, and continuously improving development and operational workflows.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 to 6 years of professional experience in iOS development.
- Strong proficiency in Swift and solid experience with UIKit.
- Experience building scalable, modular architectures (e.g., MVVM, Clean Architecture).
- Experience developing and testing Server-side APIs for mobile and web clients using Node.js, Rust, Go, etc. GQL experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs and asynchronous programming.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release processes.
- Strong debugging and performance optimization skills using profiling and monitoring tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with SwiftUI and/or Objective-C.
- Experience with end-to-end (E2E) testing and advanced test automation strategies.
- Experience developing consumer-facing or e-commerce mobile applications.
- Exposure to observability tools (e.g., OpenObserve), crash analytics, and performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with mobile analytics, A/B testing, and personalization techniques.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
