are multidisciplinary team of product designers, design researchers, content designers,

design technologists and operators, practicing across Walmart US, Sam’s Club,

International, and the Enterprise. We are a craft-based, strategic design team delivering

transformation of every touchpoint across all of Walmart.

As part of Global Design, you’ll work in close partnership with product, engineering,

content, research, business, and design system teams to shape experiences that balance

user needs, business goals, and operational realities. We are building a design culture

rooted in craft, clarity, inclusion, and impact.

About the role

As a Principal User Experience (UX) Designer, you will lead design direction for complex,

high-impact product areas and programs. You’ll bring clarity to ambiguity, shape

experience strategy, and guide teams toward solutions that are intuitive, scalable, and

aligned to both user needs and business goals.

This role is ideal for a designer with deep UX expertise, strong systems thinking, and the

ability to influence across functions and levels. You’ll work across teams to connect near-

term execution with longer-term vision, elevate design quality, and help drive consistency

and coherence across experiences. You’ll also play a key role in strengthening design

practice through leadership, mentorship, and collaboration.

What you’ll do

Lead design direction for complex, high-impact product areas, platforms, or cross-

functional programs.

Define and communicate experience strategy that connects user needs, business

priorities, and technical realities.

Translate ambiguous or complex problem spaces into clear frameworks,

opportunities, and end-to-end UX solutions.

Drive the design process from concept through delivery, ensuring a high bar for

usability, accessibility, and craft.
Create and guide user flows, information architecture, interaction models,

prototypes, and high-fidelity designs as needed.

Partner closely with product, engineering, content, research, business, and design

system teams to align on priorities and move work forward.

Use research insights, AI, agentic design, analytics, market context, and feedback to

shape decisions and refine design direction.

Influence cross-functional and leadership stakeholders through clear storytelling,

strong rationale, and thoughtful tradeoff discussions.

Drive consistency and scalability across experiences by working within and

extending design systems and shared patterns across a portfolio of products.

Raise the quality of design across teams by providing critique, mentorship, and

guidance to other designers.

Help shape team practices, design culture, and ways of working that improve

collaboration and outcomes.

Identify strategic opportunities across journeys, products, or platforms and help

teams prioritize where design can have the greatest impact.

What you’ll bring

Significant experience designing digital products, platforms, or services with a

record of driving impact in complex environments.

Deep strength in UX design, including interaction design, information architecture,

systems thinking, prototyping, and visual communication.

Ability to define experience strategy and connect detailed design decisions to

broader product and business goals.

Strong leadership presence and the ability to influence cross-functional teams and

senior stakeholders without formal authority.

Experience leading large or ambiguous initiatives across multiple teams, products,

stakeholders and/or touchpoints.

Strong storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to build alignment

around a clear design vision.

High level of craft and a strong point of view on quality, usability, accessibility, and

inclusive design.
Experience using and evolving design systems to support scalable, coherent

experiences.

Ability to coach others, give actionable feedback, and elevate team quality through

collaboration.

Comfort navigating fast-paced environments, shifting priorities, and organizational

complexity.

Preferred qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Digital

Design, Information Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent practical

experience.

8+ years of experience in UX, product, or experience design.

Portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, strong craft, and measurable impact

across shipped work.

Experience designing for complex ecosystems, enterprise workflows, omni-channel

journeys, or global products is a plus.
