What you'll do...
About the team
Walmart's last mile delivery system is responsible for getting products from Walmart stores or sortation centers directly to customers' homes. It operates in several ways:
Associate Delivery: Walmart store associates prepare orders and deliver them to customers using the Spark platform
Gig worker delivery : Gig worker responsible for delivery items from Walmart stores to customers.
Gig worker onboarding: Ensuring seamless onboarding on Walmart delivery app Outsourcing: The Spark platform also enables outsourcing deliveries to third-party vendors like DoorDash and Postmates, expanding Walmart's delivery reach and flexibility.
What You’ll Do
Designing and architecting scalable backend systems using Java, ensuring high performance and reliability for Walmart's enterprise applications.
Leading the development and implementation of backend services, APIs, and integrations that support business-critical workflows.
Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, promoting best coding practices, code reviews, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams (such as DevOps, frontend, and product teams) to deliver end-to-end solutions and drive automation in CI/CD pipelines.
Ensuring code quality, security, and compliance with Walmart's engineering standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll bring
Extensive hands-on experience designing and building large-scale, distributed backend systems, preferably using Java and related technologies.
Proven track record of technical leadership, including mentoring engineers, driving architectural decisions, and influencing engineering best practices.
Deep understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, algorithms, and system design, with exposure to cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (such as product, DevOps, and QA) to deliver complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize mission-critical applications for performance, reliability, and security.
