What you'll do...

About the team

This role is on our Platform team, the engine that fuels all the feature teams. Their goal is to define architecture for the application and make sure the feature teams abide to the architecture. This team also helps the feature team with various code components. This team provides APIs for all the Walmart integrated services.


What You’ll Do

  • Architect the platform components and provide broader design principles for Android engineers working on Walmart Google play app

  • Define roadmap for Platform Team by working closely with product and / or technology partners

  • Designing platform framework that can be reused by other Walmart apps internationally

  • Proficiency in Android platform and deeper understanding in CI/CD frameworks for Android to improve developer productivity.

  • Closely collaborate with other platform team members across across web, iOS and Android app and define uniform solutions for all platforms

  • Focus on Test Automation and designing the framework for same.

  • Provide documentation for all the solutions in place

  • Inspire best Practices and create culture of craftsmanship and innovation.

  • Lead a team of senior Individual Contributors

  • Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team.

  • Supports business objectives by collaborating with business partners to identify opportunities; addressing high-priority initiatives (for example, business strategy, technical feasibility, implementation alternatives); identifying short- and long-term solutions; and leading cross-functional partnership.

  • Utilizes industry research to improve Wal-Mart's technology environment by analyzing industry best practices; bench marking industry against internal processes and solutions; researching or influencing future industry solutions for fit with internal needs; and defining software development guidelines, standards and processes.

What You’ll Bring

  • 6-9 years of Mobile Engineer experience with Android

  • Sound experience in Java/Kotlin

  • Familiar with latest Android concepts

  • Sound experience to build CICD pipeline

  • Knowledge integrating 3rd party SDKs and APIs

  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving capability

  • Motivated team player who goes over and above what is asked

  • Strong hands-on development skills to prototype technical solutions.

  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly. Proficient in new and emerging technologies.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Large scale distributed systems experience, including scalability and fault tolerance.

  • A continuous drive to explore, improve, enhance, automate and optimize systems and tools.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures and algorithms

  • Exposure to information retrieval and statistics.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
