What you'll do...
Role summary:Join Walmart as a Staff Software Engineer and lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software development lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring technical excellence through design reviews and mentorship. About the team:
The Affiliates engineering platform team plays a key role in Walmart eCommerce( Marketing Tech organization), supporting core affiliates, content affiliates, and the influencer network, creators, contributing around $10 billion in annual revenue. The team builds scalable, resilient data platform solutions using cloud-native architecture and advanced software design patterns. Members collaborate on API design, software prototyping, and DevOps engineering to improve system performance and developer productivity. Emphasizing data-driven decision-making and innovative technologies, the team continuously refines solutions aligned with business goals and customer needs in a dynamic environment.
What you'll do:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of scoped features, ensuring alignment with platform and system objectives
- Architect and implement clean, maintainable code in Scala, Python, and Java, leveraging CI/CD and testing, with a focus on AI/ML and agentic solutions
- Build distributed, data-intensive systems using Kafka, Spark, GCP, and APIs
- Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI to enhance functionality and efficiency
- Contribute to solution design, perform code reviews, and develop scalable, secure systems
- Translate business requirements into actionable technical solutions
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reliable delivery
- Mentor peers, promote best practices, and drive continuous improvement
What you'll bring:
- Expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation for scalable, resilient systems
- Strong experience across the software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, CI/CD, and maintenance
- Skilled in API design, prototyping, and applying design patterns for secure, maintainable solutions
- Experience integrating AI/ML components and building automation using Python, Scala, and Java
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with a focus on code quality and engineering excellence
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions
- Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and clear communication of technical concepts
- Data-driven approach to define metrics, optimize processes, and deliver high-quality platform solutions

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
